VALA Conference - Melbourne, Australia

Very much enjoyed participating in the VALA Conference. Seems people casually and frequently visit such exotic places as Singapore and New Zealand. It's all relative coming from the states and travelling 24 hrs by plane. Peter Lor gave a wonderful presentation regarding Web 2.0 services, part of the topic of the conference. He also added information on how information and technologies seem to be dominated by the Northern hemisphere and we don't learn as much about contributions from the Southern Hemisphere. Peter Lor also gave a presentation about IFLA at La Trobe University. It was good to see so many IFLA members who have participated in previous congresses. Had an elegant meal during the conference in a theater mid town Melbourne and an exceptional home made meal by a friend who I met in South Africa and through many earlier email correspondence supporting bursaries for Africa.
